The heart of what we do is selection: selecting an entrepreneur, an idea, a strategy. We look for two things: an idea that can affect millions of people and a leader who can take the idea to scale.
Our selections are made based on a series of interconnected indicators: tenacity, passion, execution capacity and creativity.
Once we have selected the idea, we connect the leader to the resources they need to refine their idea and bring it to scale. The actual connections may vary, from financial support to potential board members to sector, strategic, or operational expertise, but all are provided with a single goal in mind: to help the idea scale effectively.
Our Program Officers and leadership are closely engaged with our Partners, shaping organizational direction and taking part in their discussions about strategy, management, operations, or fundraising. Our grants do the same, as our grants reflect our vision for that organization, whether it’s for bringing on senior management, building a fundraising department, or piloting a new program.
